The strap is supposed to hold the cover down, not saw through the vinyl. These EPDM rubber pads go under the hardware where it meets the cover lip. Eight pads, $4.95 — a full extra set for a two-strap kit plus spares when a pad walks off or squishes flat after a few summers of sun.
EPDM handles outdoor heat and spa chemicals better than cheap foam that turns to dust. If your cover already has a shiny worn spot where the buckle sat, the vinyl is telling you the pad is gone. Complete kits include pads. This pack is how you refresh them without buying another whole kit. They are pads, not straps and not lock bodies.

What do these pads actually do?

Are they the same pads that come in the kit?
Yes — same job as the four pads in a complete kit. This is an 8-pack of replacements when the originals flatten, crack, or disappear.
Why EPDM instead of foam?
EPDM is a rubber that lives outside. Sun, splash, and spa chemicals wreck open-cell foam. These are meant to stay under the hardware, not crumble into the cabinet gap.
Will they fit other brands of spa straps?
They are sized for SpaCoverStraps kit hardware. If your buckle footprint is similar they may work, but we sell them as replacements for our kits, not as a universal cover bandage.
Do I need new straps if the pads are shot?
Usually no. Worn pads are a $4.95 fix. Replace the straps if the webbing is frayed or the buckle is cracked — that is a different order.
