Job Summary

Responsible for administering the Domestic Violence Residential Services in the Shelter Program, supervising and training Crisis Workers, Night Staff, interns and volunteers who operate the 24-hour hotline. Provides direct service to survivors of violence as needed during their shift.

Essential Functions
  1. Manages Crisis Hotline Services using a team management approach and supervises Crisis Workers, Night Staff, and interns/volunteers who work Crisis Desk during their shift
  2. Meets with Shelter Program residents as needed and documents all client contact for inclusion in data collection system
  3. Ensures Crisis Department is clean, coordinates all maintenance with Maintenance, and coordinates all major monthly cleanings of Shelter facility with residents
  4. In consultation with Program Manager, identifies goals and objectives that help ensure a safe, healthy, and respectful living environment within Shelter and addresses Crisis and Shelter needs in a timely manner
  5. Represents Survivor Empowerment Center Crisis Hotline with ICADV, other domestic violence groups, provides community education and networks with other agencies that interact with victims of domestic violence as requested and time permits
  6. Measures program quality and effectiveness through development of and timely review of outcome measures and client evaluations
  7. Performs personnel-related activities for Crisis Hotline staff, interns and volunteers under their supervision, which include conducting appropriate and adequate training, performance evaluations, supervisions, reviewing timesheets for accuracy and forwarding them to Program Manager for review, reviewing job descriptions at least annually to ensure accuracy, interviewing potential employees, and communicating to Program Manager any Shelter Program or personnel-related issues
  8. Assists with supervising volunteers for Domestic Violence Shelter Program and participates in volunteer training
  9. Assists with developing and facilitating 40-hour training
  10. Evaluates current Crisis Hotline policies and procedures and recommends modifications as needed to Program Manager
  11. Attends all Domestic Violence/Shelter Committee meetings
  12. Provides written reports to Program Manager in a timely manner to be included in monthly Board Packet
  13. Assists Program Manager with ensuring data entry
  14. Assists Domestic Violence Program Manager to ensure Shelter Program compliance with all grant requirements, applicable federal, state, and local laws, and all rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  15. Manages software applications relating to scheduling and employee communication
  16. Shares on-call responsibilities with Program Manager
  17. Assists Crisis Desk when referring clients out of Shelter program
  18. Performs typing and filing associated with outlined duties
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those issues preferred
  • Domestic Violence Professional Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of the Survivor Empowerment Center's policies and procedures preferred
  • Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give attention to detail
  • Skills in public speaking helpful
  • Supervisory skills, previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
  • Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently-abled individuals
  • Ability to deal with stress-related situations
  • Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to embrace the concept of teamwork
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred
  • Willingness to complete the required 72 hours of training for the position within 6 months of employment
  • Must be willing to work varying shifts
  • Must have a current driver's license, own vehicle with current automobile insurance, and willingness to travel
